Yes the woodteck is made in the same factory as the General just different month. Woodtek, toolex etc are all identical. They are Cheaper but the savings come (I am told)from slightly lower standards and specks while making them. Those companies save by using cheaper components, ie plastic in some places or lighter metal for washers etc. I had a sales rep once open up a toolex and General Bandsaw that looked identical and show me the differences, lots of little things but the big difference was that they had different Motors, the toolex was much lighter duty. You see the same thing with Craftsman and Ryobi tools. At a trade show the Ryobi dealer had two identical routers apart there, the Ryobi and the Craftsman (made by ryobi. The Craftsman had all sorts of plastic bushings where the Ryobi had metal, in the long run it makes a difference. The General is 67lbs heavier than the other "identical" Sanders. It is a different machine. As well I have heard many reports of the cheaper ones needing more set up time as they are not set up and dieled in at the factory. Is the extra money worth it? Depends I suppose. For most people using it as a hobby tool they will never need the extra quality. I probably wouldn't have put the extra money out for any General tools myself but I got a good deal ($1000 off on the 25" Sander) so the prices were the same. Now I would probably hold off and save for the extra.

Thanks for the information. I'm getting the demonstration video from Woodtek, so I'll see how that goes, then decide.

Hi shane I gave what you suggested a try today, with Cocobolo, and I have to say it works a treat, no where near as much clogging, After I had the pieces to thickness, I then did one slow pass just to get a nice finish.

Great Tip, Many Thanks

Russell
